It's about saving
a part of history. It's about preserving the skilled craftsmanship
of earlier times when things were built to last. The Vida Bridge
is still here today, but government officials want to take this
beloved part of history and make it just that, history, in exchange
for a replacement bridge that was once used as a temparary crossing
during the construction of a new drawbridge in the town of Delcambre,
Louisiana.
There is a movement to save the bridge. A dedicated group of
residents consisting of architects and professional engineers
along side everyday residents who have rallied together in an
effort to save it.
